علمیت بروزن فاعلن۔اردو میں اس لفظ کے معنی ہیں ’’عالم ہونے کی کیفیت‘‘۔ ڈاکٹر شفیع شیخ فرماتے ہیں اور درست فرماتے ہیں کہ اس لفظ کا عربی میں وجود نہیں۔ لیکن وہ اسے عربی طرز پر’’علمیّت‘‘ مع تحتانی مشدد بروزن مفعولن قراردیتے ہیں۔اگر یہ لفظ عربی ہوتا تو بے شک بروزن مفعولن ہوتا۔ اردو کا مزاج تشدید سے زیادہ تسہیل کی طرف مائل ہے۔ لہٰذا اس لفظ کو بہ تسہیل تحتانی، اور بروزن فاعلن ہی لکھنا بولنا درست ہے اور یہی رائج بھی ہے۔ برسبیل تذکرہ، یہ لفظ فارسی میں بھی نہیں ہے۔ فارسی میں ’’علمیہ‘‘ ہے، بمعنی ’’متعلق بہ علم یا علومـ‘‘۔ اردو میں بھی یہ لفظ انھیں معنی میں رائج ہے۔
