(तुर्की भाषा में लग़ -ओ-दग़) कठोर एवं समतल भुमि जिसमें न पेड़ हों न हरियाली न मानव जाति
विशेष • साहिबे 'जामिउल्लुग़ात की राय में फ़ारसी में 'लक' का अर्थ गंजा और 'दक़' के मानी मिला हुआ अर्थात रगड़ा हुआ से निकला है, और उर्दू लुग़त के मुताबिक़ अरबी लफ़्ज़ 'दक़ का अर्थ ज़मीन की शिगाफ़, और अरबी लफ़्ज़ 'दक़' के मानी कूटना से लिया गया है, और साहिबे 'नूरुल्लुग़ात इसको तुर्की के लफ़्ज़ 'लग-ओ-दग़ से निकला मानते हैं

وضاحتی نوٹ • صاحب 'جامع اللغات' کی رائے میں فارسی میں 'لک' بمعنی 'گنجا اور 'دق' ملا ہوا نیز رگڑا ہوا سے مشتق ہے، اور اردو لغت کے مطابق عربی لفظ 'دقّ' بمعنی زمین کی شگاف، اور عربی لفظ 'دقّ' بمعنی کوٹنا سے ماخوذ ہے، اور صاحب 'نوراللغات' اس کو ترکی کے لفظ 'لغ و دغ' سے مشتق کرتے ہیں
