- ہجرت سے سولہ سترہ ماہ بعد ایک دن نبی اکرم صلی اﷲ علیہ وآلہ وسلم صحابہ کے ساتھ اس مسجد میں نماز ظہر ادا کر رہے تھے کہ خدا تعالیٰ کی طرف سے تحویل قبلہ کا حکم نازل ہوا ، آپ صلی اﷲ علیہ وسلم اُس وقت تک دو رکعت نماز ادا کر چکے تھے اس حکم کے بعد آپ صلی اﷲ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے مقتدیوں کے ساتھ اپنا رُخ کعبے کی طرف کر کے باقی دو رکعتیں ادا کیں ، اسی وجہ سے اس مسجد کو مسجد قبلتین یا ذو قبلتین یعنی دو قبلوں والی مسجد کہتے ہیں ۔
