Interesting Information on musaddas
Musaddas is a form of poetry which spans over six lines. It is a quite popular form of Urdu poetry in which a large number of elegies and many long Nazms have been written. In each verse set of a Musaddas, the first four lines share the same Qafiya and Radeef, while the last two lines differ in them: these lines are called 'Bait'. One verse set from Iqbal's famous Nazm 'Shikwa', which is written in Musaddas, reads: hai bajā sheva-e-taslīm meñ mash.hūr haiñ ham qissa-e-dard sunāte haiñ ki majbūr haiñ ham saaz ḳhāmosh haiñ fariyād se māmūr haiñ ham naala aatā hai agar lab pe to māzūr haiñ ham ai ḳhudā shikva-e-arbāb-e-vafā bhī sun le ḳhūgar-e-hamd se thoḌā sā gila bhī sun le The word Musaddas also calls to mind Hali's 'Madd-o-Jazr-e-Islaam', which he wrote on the behest of Sir Syed. To this end, Sir Syed said that when God will ask him what he has brought forth from the world, he would answer, Hali se Musaddas likhwa kar laayaa hun, aur kuch nahin'. This Musaddas became popular by the name 'Musaddas-e-Hali'.
