پپڑانا ہونٹ، یا کسی نرم جگہ پر پپڑی پڑجانا۔ اسم سے مصدر بنانے کی صلاحیت اردو میں ہے، مثلاً گرم/گرمانا=گرم کرنا، گرم ہونا، شرم/شرمانا=شرم محسوس کرنا، ہونا، نرم/نرمانا=نرم پڑجانا، وغیرہ۔ لیکن افسوس کہ یہ صرف چند ہی مصادر پرجاری کی گئی۔ نتیجہ یہ ہوا کہ اردو میں نئے مصادر بننے کا میدان بہت تنگ رہ گیا۔ انگریزی میں تقریباً ہراسم کو مصدر بنا سکتے ہیں۔ آج کی اردو میں اسم سے مصدر بنانے کا رواج پہلے سے بھی کم ہے۔ لیکن جو الفاظ پہلے تھے، مثلاً ’’پپڑانا‘‘، انھیں دوبارہ رائج کرنا چاہئے۔ اس میں ایک فائدہ یہ بھی ہے کہ ان کی دیکھا دیکھی ممکن ہے ایسے مزید لفظ رائج ہو جائیں۔ زبان خشک تھی، ہونٹ پپڑائے ہوئے تھے۔ (’’تورج نامہ‘‘، جلد دوم، از شیخ تصدق حسین، ص ۵۰۷) لیکن اس طرز کے نئے مصادر بنانے سے پہلے پرانے مصادر کو رواج میں دوبارہ لانا چاہئے تاکہ مصدر سازی کا مزاج پیدا ہو۔ ہر شخص اپنی من مانی کرنے لگے، اس سے اچھا ہے کہ پرانے ہی مصادر پر فی الحال قناعت ہو۔ مثلا ’’برپا کرنا‘‘ کے لئے ’’برپانا‘‘ اور ’’گہرا کرنا‘‘ کے لئے’’گہرانا‘‘ قابل قبول نہیں۔
