ایک مشہور صوفی فقیر جو ادہم (بن منصور بن یزید) کے بیٹے تھے ، کہا جاتا ہے کہ یہ ابتداءً بلخ کے بادشاہ تھے ، خواب میں کسی آسمانی بشارت پر فقیری اختیار کی اور تلاش حق میں نکل کھڑے ہوئے . حلقۂ صوفیہ و فقرا میں داخل ہونے کے بعد شام میں سکونت اختیار کی ، محنت مزدوری ذریعۂ معاش تھا . یونانیوں کے خلاف جہاد کرتے ہوئے ۷۸۴ء میں شہادت پائی .
