ڈھانپنا معنی اور زور کے لحاظ سے’’ڈھانپنا‘‘ اور’’ڈھانکنا‘‘ میں کوئی فرق نہیں۔ ان دنوں’’ڈھانکنا‘‘ زیادہ مستعمل ہے، لیکن بعض موقعوں پر’’ڈھانپنا‘‘ بہتر معلوم ہوتا ہے، مثلاً: دھوپ میں سر کو ڈھانپے رہنا بہتر ہے۔ برتن کو ڈھانپ کر رکھئے۔ ملحوظ رہے کہ ’’ڈھانکنا‘‘ کی ایک شکل ’’ڈھکنا‘‘ بھی ہے، اور’’ڈھانپنا‘‘ کی ایک شکل’’ڈھپنا‘‘ بھی ہے، لیکن ’’ڈھپنا‘‘ اب مستعمل نہیں۔مثلاً: اماں جان سر ڈھک لو (’’توبۃ النصوح‘‘)۔ یہاں’’سر ڈھپ لو‘‘ نہیں کہہ سکتے۔ یا: ان کے عیب ڈھک گئے۔ یہاں’’ڈھپ گئے‘‘ نہیں کہہ سکتے۔ اسی پر اور کو قیاس کرلیں۔ اماں جان سر ڈھک لو (’’توبۃ النصوح‘‘)۔
