رائے بمعنی Opinion۔ عربی میں یائے تحتانی بے ہمزہ ہے اور ہمزہ الف پر رسماً لکھ دیتے ہیں (رأی)۔ لیکن اردو میں یہ لفظ مع ہمزہ رائج ہوگیا ہے اور عربی تراکیب میں بھی ہمزہ لکھتے ہیں (مثلاً ’’صاحب الرائے‘‘)لہٰذا اب یہی املا درست مانا جائے گا۔خطاب کے طور پر(رائے، رائے بہادر) اور’’راجا‘‘ کے معنی میں یہ لفظ دونوں طرح لکھا جاتا ہے اوراس وقت یہی ٹھیک ہے۔ فارسی قاعدے سے’’رائے‘‘ بمعنی ’’راجا‘‘ کی جمع ’’رایان‘‘ ہے اور اردو میں بھی اس معنی یہی مستعمل ہے۔
